Song and Tune Writing Awards

“For an original song or tune in traditional or contemporary folk style”

  • The 2023 award competition is now open.

  • These awards are made to encourage creative music writing in Tasmania.
  • An independent panel of judges will announce the awards at a concert at the Fern Tree Tavern on Saturday, 4th November.
  • The concert will feature as many entrants as possible. The judge’s decisions will be made before the night but not announced until during the concert. A People’s Choice award will be decided on the night.

Prizes total $1000.  There are three categories, plus a People’s Choice on the night of the concert:

  • Mike Silverwood Memorial Song Writing Award $250
  • Instrumental (Tune) Award $250
  • Under 19 Song or Instrumental Award – two prizes of $200 each
  • People’s Choice Award $100

Entries to be submitted by Saturday, 30th September.
